Biography

Nikolai Koltsov (1872–1940) was a prominent Russian biologist and pioneer in experimental embryology and genetics. He founded the Institute of Experimental Biology in Moscow and made significant contributions to understanding heredity and developmental biology, establishing himself as one of Russia's leading biological researchers of the early twentieth century.

Koltsov's work bridged classical embryology with modern genetics, and he trained numerous students who became influential scientists in their own right.
