Biography
Norman Hapgood made his mark as a journalist and editor who championed reform, investigative reporting, and civil liberties, shaping public opinion through publications such as Harper’s Weekly and The New York Evening Post. His voice helped expose corruption and called for a more just society during the Progressive Era.
Hapgood later served his country overseas as Ambassador to Denmark and maintained his advocacy for international cooperation, free speech, and human dignity until his death; he rests at Green-Wood Cemetery as a testament to the power of the written word in public life.
