Oden Bowie

Biography

Oden Bowie (1826–1894) rose to prominence as an engineer and statesman who served as Maryland’s thirty-fourth governor, guiding the state through a period of railroad expansion and agricultural improvement.

He was laid to rest at Fairview Plantation, where neighbors remember the steady leadership he brought to the estate and its surrounding countryside.
