Biography
Oliver S. Hershman dedicated himself to civic service, lending his judgment to boards and committees that tackled pressing needs in Pittsburgh. He approached each task with a calm resolve, whether managing a project or guiding the development of local institutions.
Friends recall a man who made time to mentor new leaders and who believed that public service was a privilege that required humility and respect for others. His consistent effort helped maintain the civic health of his adopted city, and he rests now in Homewood Cemetery.
