Biography

Orson Pratt (1811–1881) was ordained as one of the first members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, blending a love of mathematics with scriptural exposition as he helped codify the burgeoning theology of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

A tireless missionary, he crossed the plains for Zion, served in the Utah territorial legislature, and, after a life of service, was buried near his fellow pioneers in Salt Lake City Cemetery.
