Biography

Paul Sawyier studied at the Art Students League in New York before returning to Kentucky, where his luminous watercolors of the Kentucky River, local farms, and small-town life earned him a reputation as one of the region's most tender chroniclers of place.

In later years he made his home in Frankfort, and the Frankfort Cemetery site he now shares with his fellow citizens witnesses how his paintings continue to delight collectors and preserve the rustic beauty of the Bluegrass State.
