Penina Halperin
1886–1980 (age 94)
Biography
Penina Halperin devoted her life to education in the emerging Jewish community, guiding generations of students and teachers with warmth, rigor, and a belief that every child deserved to learn, grow, and participate in public life. Her leadership in schools and teacher-training institutes helped to shape curricula and professional standards that would flourish throughout Tel Aviv and beyond.
Her quiet insistence on equal opportunity and civic-mindedness left a lasting imprint on those she taught, and she is remembered for nurturing both the intellect and the spirit of her pupils; she now rests at Trumpeldor Cemetery among the pioneers she served.
