Biography
Photius Fisk answered a higher calling as a Navy chaplain and abolitionist, carrying compassion and conviction to ports across the world. He befriended presidents and captains alike, yet kept his focus on the enslaved and poor, personally arranging for liberty papers and passage for those in peril.
Fisk spent his later years funding schools, supporting freedmen, and championing the children of former slaves, leaving major portions of his estate for their benefit. His unwavering dedication made him a beloved, if sometimes unconventional, figure in the pursuit of justice.
