Biography
Raymond T. Baker trained as a mining engineer at the University of California and carried that practical knowledge into a career that eventually led him to the helm of the United States Mint during the turbulent years of World War I. Under his watch the Mint balanced the demand for coinage with wartime pressure, while he advocated for technical precision and fiscal responsibility.
After returning to the private sector, he continued to advise on mining and banking matters, always emphasizing service to the public good and the importance of thoughtful stewardship, a reputation treasured by family and friends who now honor him at Mountain View Cemetery.
