Biography

Reinhold Friedrich von der Osten-Sacken (1832–1916) was a prominent statesman and public figure in the Russian Empire who served in various official capacities. His long career in state service spanned much of the 19th century and extended into the early 20th century, encompassing periods of significant political reform and change.

Von der Osten-Sacken's contributions to Russian governance reflected the important role played by Baltic German nobility in Imperial administration. He was interred in Smolensky Lutheran Cemetery, a final resting place that served the German and Baltic communities of Saint Petersburg and testified to his prominence in Russian society.
