Biography

Reverend J Lawson was born in 1787 and passed away in 1825 at the age of thirty-eight. As a clergyman, he served the spiritual needs of the European community in colonial Calcutta and was buried in South Park Street Cemetery, a place of honor for many of the city's religious leaders and prominent citizens.

Rev. Lawson's ministry contributed to the religious life of early nineteenth-century Calcutta. His burial in South Park Street Cemetery reflects the important role that clergy played in the social and spiritual fabric of the colonial European community in India.
