Richard C. Drum

Biography

Richard C. Drum, born in 1825, devoted decades to the U.S. Army, serving through the Civil War and beyond while overseeing personnel matters and ensuring the force remained disciplined and ready.

His administrative skill and steady presence earned him the gratitude of countless soldiers, and when he died in 1909 he was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, among those he helped to serve.
