Biography

Robert Isaac Wilberforce (1802–1857) was an English theologian and son of the renowned abolitionist William Wilberforce. He followed in his father's footsteps as a man of principle and conviction, dedicating his life to theological scholarship and ecclesiastical reform. Wilberforce was ordained as a clergyman and became known for his writings on Christian doctrine and his efforts to strengthen the intellectual foundations of the Anglican Church during a period of significant religious debate.

Throughout his career, Wilberforce contributed substantially to theological discourse in nineteenth-century England, earning respect as a serious scholar and spiritual leader. His work reflected the deep moral and intellectual commitments that characterized his family's legacy. He was buried in the Church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva in Rome, a final resting place befitting a man of his scholarly and spiritual stature.
