Biography

Robert Luce devoted decades to public service, first as a Massachusetts journalist and reformer and later as a U.S. Representative whose committee work focused on public health, housing, and education. He believed that thoughtful legislation could improve daily life, and in Washington he encouraged pragmatic solutions that respected both tradition and the impulse for progress.

Luce remained a familiar presence in Massachusetts civic life, supporting school programs and charitable institutions, and his long career of service is commemorated by friends and family at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
