Biography

Robert McAlmon was a writer and publisher at the heart of the Paris literary circle, founding Contact Editions to give a platform to modernist voices and publishing the works of Ernest Hemingway, William Carlos Williams, and others. His own novels and accounts captured the restless energy of the age with candid, observational prose.

He later returned to America with a resolute belief in fostering literary communities, and he continued to champion fresh talent, ensuring that daring stories found readers at home and abroad.
