Biography

Roi Cooper Megrue was a prolific playwright whose breezy comedies and musicals helped define Broadway in the 1910s, with hits such as the sparkling satire that became It Pays to Advertise.

Later, he turned his knack for dialogue toward the silver screen, translating stage wit into the new language of cinema before being laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery.
