Biography
Roscoe Henry Hillenkoetter served his nation in the Navy before being selected as the first Director of Central Intelligence, where he set the tone for the newly formed intelligence community. He worked to bring order to a complex world of information gathering, insisting upon integrity and cooperation among those who keep the nation safe.
After guiding the fledgling agency through uncertain times, he retired with the respect of colleagues and is now laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
