Biography

Salvador J. Lara (1920–1945) was a Mexican American soldier whose courage in the Italian campaign inspired his comrades, repeatedly leading assaults that pushed back enemy positions.

He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for those deeds and is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, where his sacrifice continues to inspire.
