Biography

Samuel Franklin Cody rode in from the American West and found himself enamoured with the skies, becoming one of Britain’s earliest and most daring aviators. He won acclaim for brave exhibition flights and for fostering public enthusiasm for the promise of powered flight.

Cody took on the challenge of making Britain a leader in the air, instructing new pilots and promoting aeronautical innovation until his untimely death at Aldershot Military Cemetery. His courage and frontier spirit left a lasting imprint on the young art of aviation.
