Biography

Samuel Haven (1727–1806) enjoyed a long life that spanned nearly eighty years, witnessing the transformation of America from colonial dependence to independent nationhood. Born in the early eighteenth century, he lived through the French and Indian War, the American Revolution, and the establishment of the federal republic.

Haven was a respected member of his community throughout his extended life. He was interred in Proprietors Burying Ground, where he rests among the citizens whose lives helped shape the early American experience.
