Biography

Samuel M. Inman combined careful stewardship of his family's cotton-trading interests with a bold vision for Atlanta's future, helping to finance and shape the neighborhood that would bear his name. His business acumen and willingness to invest in civic projects among the rapidly growing city earned him a reputation for integrity and forward thinking.

Beyond commerce, he supported cultural and educational initiatives, believing that Atlanta's success depended on both sound industry and civic pride. He was laid to rest in Oakland Cemetery, among the fellow citizens whose labors created the vibrant city he helped to build.
