Samuel S. Ely

Biography

Samuel S. Ely, born in 1836, built his life around Maple Hill, helping to sustain local commerce and educational causes, and serving as a reliable ally to neighbors in times of need. He believed in fostering a sense of shared responsibility, often contributing to school improvements and community celebrations that bolstered civic pride.

He passed in 1898 and was interred at Maple Hill Cemetery, where his efforts to unite residents in common purpose are still remembered with gratitude.
