Samuel Stokely (1796–1861) welcomed every new season with determination, contributing to the growth of his township and comforting neighbors in the area now marked by Union Cemetery-Beatty Park.

His enduring faith in community and readiness to share what he had made him a treasured member of society, and his calming presence is still honored by those who visit his grave.
