Biography

Simon Baruch was a physician whose curiosity about the links between health and environment propelled him to advocate for better hospital practices and the hygienic reforms of his day. He believed that careful attention to sanitation, clean water, and trained nursing care could make the difference between illness and recovery.

His writings and public service promoted respectful treatment of the sick and encouraged others to value preventive care, and he now rests at Flushing Cemetery as a reminder of medicine's healing mission.
