Biography
Simon Bolivar Buckner Jr. was a distinguished United States Army officer who carried on the legacy of military service established by his father. Rising through the ranks between the wars, he became one of the youngest chiefs of staff and later commanded troops in the Pacific theater during World War II.
His leadership during the Battle of Okinawa, where he was mortally wounded, capped a career defined by professionalism, deep faith, and devotion to his soldiers, ensuring he is remembered with honor among the veterans laid to rest at Frankfort Cemetery.
