Sir Edward Buxton, 2nd Baronet

1812–1858 (age 46)

Biography

Sir Edward Buxton, 2nd Baronet, born in 1812, served as a Member of Parliament and represented his neighbours' concerns in the Commons, pressing for rural education, humane treatment of the poor, and the careful management of family estates.

He passed in 1858, and the Church of St Martin in Overstrand retains the memory of a modest baronet whose sense of duty inspired successive generations of his family.
