Stephen Higginson III

Biography

Stephen Higginson III was born in 1832 and matured in an era when commerce and civic duty intertwined; he applied himself with care to the affairs entrusted to him and cultivated a reputation for integrity in dealings with others. His thoughtful approach to difficult questions won him esteem among friends and neighbors.

He believed calm stewardship of both personal and public life could foster resilience, and he now lies at Green-Wood Cemetery among other civic-minded citizens who shared the same devotion.
