Stephen Warren (1783–1847) carried himself with a sense of duty that made him a touchstone for his neighbors, lending an attentive ear and a ready hand to challenges as they arose at Oakwood.

Though the particulars of his profession may be lost, the memory of his calm resolve remains rooted in the place where he is laid to rest.
