Biography
Susanna Dickinson, one of the few survivors of the Alamo, carried first-hand testimony of that siege from 1836 for decades, sharing the courage and heartbreak of those who defended Texas.
She later settled in Texas, lived quietly with her family, and became a symbol of perseverance, now resting in Oakwood Cemetery among other witnesses to the state's founding struggles.
