Thomas De Witt Talmage, born in 1832, rose to national prominence as a preacher whose sermons reached millions through printed collections and frequent lectures, offering moral guidance and a call to compassion.

His ministry touched countless lives, and after he died in 1902 he was interred at Green-Wood Cemetery, where admirers continue to visit the grave of this eloquent advocate for social progress.
