Thomas Gaisford was a towering figure in classical scholarship and served as the Dean of Christ Church, Oxford, guiding the institution through a period of intellectual vigor. His erudite editions of Greek authors and his leadership at the university brought renewed attention to the ancient texts that shaped Western learning.
