Thomas R. Foster built a shipping enterprise in the Hawaiian Islands and also gifted the community with the grounds of what became Foster Botanical Garden, nurturing both commerce and the islands' botanical heritage.

He shared the fruits of his success generously, inspiring others to cultivate beauty and sustain one another, and his legacy blooms near Makiki Cemetery.
