Thomas Truxtun

Biography

Thomas Truxtun (1755–1822) gained renown as a daring naval officer, commanding early frigates and privateers that safeguarded American commerce and demonstrated the young country's seafaring resolve.

He also took part in the life of Christ Church, Philadelphia, where his recollections of service and commitment to national honor provided inspiration to those following in his wake.
