Biography
Thomas Watkins Ligon, born in 1810, served Maryland as its thirty-fourth governor and worked to preserve the state's institutions at a time of intense national debate.
After leaving the governor's mansion he continued to lend his voice to civic life, and his family laid him to rest in Saint Johns Cemetery of Howard County in 1881.
