Biography
Václav Chlum was born in 1911 and grew up in interwar Czechoslovakia, a period of relative independence and cultural flourishing. His formative years were marked by hope for a stable democratic future in Central Europe.
Chlum died in 1945 at the age of 34, as World War II drew to its devastating close. He was laid to rest in the National Cemetery in Terezín, remembered among the many whose lives were lost during this catastrophic period of history.
