Biography

Vladislav Pietras (1920–1995) was a Czech film and theater director whose creative career spanned several decades of twentieth-century Czech cultural life. Born in 1920, he came of age during the interwar period and developed his artistic vision during the transformative years that followed.

As a director, Pietras contributed to Czech cinema and theater during both the communist era and the years following the 1989 Velvet Revolution. His work reflected the artistic resilience of Czech culture through periods of significant political change. He was buried at Olšany Cemetery in Prague.
