Volkert P. Douw

Biography

Volkert P. Douw (1720-1801) was a resident of Albany, New York, living during the colonial period and the American Revolution. His long life of eighty-one years allowed him to witness the transformation of the thirteen colonies into an independent nation and the establishment of the federal republic.

Douw's life spanned a crucial period in American history, from the height of British colonial rule through the founding of the United States. He was buried in Albany Rural Cemetery, a significant burial ground reflecting the community's respect for its long-standing residents.
