Volodymyr Petryshyn

Biography

Volodymyr Petryshyn was a mathematician whose scholarly work bridged continents, contributing to the study of nonlinear analysis and inspiring students both in America and in his Ukrainian homeland. He approached every lecture hall and journal with clarity of thought and a gracious willingness to guide young mathematicians.

Colleagues remember him for his unassuming generosity and for the patience with which he nurtured the next generation of researchers; he rests now at Saint Andrew Cemetery.
