Biography
Wayne MacVeagh was a distinguished Philadelphia lawyer whose intellect and fairness led to national service as U.S. Attorney General in 1881 and later as United States Minister to Italy, roles in which he championed the rule of law and civil administration.
Throughout a long career he remained a modest mentor to younger lawyers and a faithful member of his parish, and the Church of the Redeemer Cemetery now marks the resting place of the statesman whose counsel was sought by many.
