William E. Woodruff

Biography

William E. Woodruff (1795–1885) founded the Arkansas Gazette and, through his press, documented the evolving story of the territory’s citizens and their institutions.

His tireless work as a chronicler of Arkansas life earned him respect, and visitors to Mount Holly Cemetery still recognize the debt owed to his steady dedication to truthful reporting.
