Biography
William Eckert rose through the ranks of the United States Air Force, earning command responsibilities during the global conflicts that defined his generation and helping to guide readiness and logistics throughout the early Cold War era.
In retirement he brought the same steady leadership to the national pastime as Commissioner of Baseball, overseeing a period of growth and integration before returning to Arlington, where his service is honored in perpetuity.
