Biography
William Edward West was a Nashville resident whose life extended from 1788 to 1857, spanning nearly seven decades of American development. He lived through the early years of the republic and witnessed Nashville's emergence as a significant city in the South.
West's long life provided him with perspective on the changes that transformed Nashville from a frontier outpost into an established urban center. He was laid to rest in Nashville City Cemetery, where he remains part of the historical fabric of the city.
