Biography

William H. H. Miller, born in 1840, served as attorney general of the United States during the administration of Benjamin Harrison, bringing a calm legal mind to the enforcement of the law. He met the challenges of the time with a devotion to justice and an insistence on precedent.

After leaving Washington, he continued to counsel clients with the same integrity, and his devotion to the rule of law inspired younger lawyers across Indiana. Crown Hill Cemetery holds his memory as someone who safeguarded the nation’s legal institutions.
