Biography
William Johnston, born in 1804, was among the generation that shaped Cincinnati from a frontier town into a thriving river city; he guided his efforts with steady hands as trade and industry expanded along the Ohio, carrying a quiet pride in the place that nurtured him.
In later years he was valued for his wise counsel and warm hospitality, and when he passed in 1891 family and acquaintances laid him to rest at Spring Grove Cemetery, where his memory rests alongside others who helped build the community.
