Biography

William McAndrew dedicated his career to education, rising to the position of superintendent of Chicago Public Schools where he worked tirelessly to expand curriculum, support teachers, and keep students at the center of policy.

Despite political headwinds, he remained steadfast in defending the independence of the classroom, a legacy carried on by educators who visit his resting place at Oakland Cemetery.
