William McCoy

Biography

William McCoy, born in 1768, witnessed the birth of the republic and watched the University of Virginia rise in Charlottesville, remaining a steady neighbor as the institution and town grew around him.

Though the particulars of his work are less recorded, he is remembered for his quiet support of family and community, and his long life is memorialized at the University of Virginia Cemetery.
