Biography

William Miller Wallace, born in 1844, was forged in the crucible of the Civil War, serving in campaigns that tested the mettle of a young officer corps. He continued his service after the war, assisting in the long and difficult task of maintaining frontier outposts and ensuring peace in the expanding West.

Wallace devoted decades to upholding discipline, mentoring junior officers, and inspecting posts across the country before retiring with honor. Arlington National Cemetery became his final anchor in 1924, memorializing a lifetime of faithful duty.
