William Oland Bourne, born in 1819, lived through the closing years of the antebellum period and the new century that followed, always upholding a thoughtful commitment to family.

He was remembered for his grace and quiet encouragement, and after his death in 1901 his grave at Green-Wood Cemetery became a place of respectful remembrance.
