Biography
William Randolph Lovelace II trained as a physician and soon focused on aviation medicine, founding research programs at what became the Lovelace Clinic to ensure the well-being of pilots in the jet age.
He helped shape the medical standards for the Mercury astronauts, blending scientific rigor with deep compassion for the men and women who trusted him with their lives, and he remained a guiding force in the medical community until his passing near Fairview Memorial Park.
