William Stephen Walker

Biography

William Stephen Walker came into the world in 1822 and came of age as the nation wrestled with great issues; he met each challenge with quiet determination, offering care and counsel to those around him as society around Oakland shifted.

His family honored him in 1899, and Oakland Cemetery became his final resting place, where visitors continue to reflect on the constancy he provided to friends and kin.
